Authentically Celebrating History and Heritage

Celebrating our heritage and historically important events authentically thanks to The Greenwoode Village!

We have a lot to be thankful for, and our journey from where we began hundreds of years ago is one that should never be forgotten. A lot is said about how things used to be, how they used to work, and how those things affected the community we lived in, the friends we made, and how we raised our family.

It takes a village to raise a child

The saying, “It takes a village to raise a child,” is built upon that history. Humans aren’t solitary by nature. For thousands of years, we have existed together in family units, tribes, villages, and communities. During the last century, that has slowly changed, but many people are still searching for a stronger sense of community.

That sense of community extends to workplaces and teams, and building a solid team in your workplace begins with building a strong sense of community and understanding the important role our history and heritage played in that.

Getting back to your roots and understanding where we came from and how we got to where we are is an integral part of team building. If you’re looking to learn more about team building hosted through The Greenwoode Village, be sure to read Why Your Next Corporate Team Building Should Be at The Greenwoode Village, which covers everything on offer through our corporate team building events.

Heritage celebrations, your roots

Unity Through Tradition

Heritage celebrations are one way to establish a connection to the past, acknowledging our roots while using the knowledge gained to allow us to push forward toward a more harmonious future.

In our communities, people from all walks of life come together. A community isn’t made up of one group of people or their history. It’s a melting pot of experiences and history, with many different traditions blending together. A good example of this is when you celebrate traditional holidays such as Easter, Thanksgiving, or Christmas with another family. It’s surprising just how different these celebrations can be, even when people share the same local heritage.

How we used to do certain things has changed. Technological improvements have made our lives very different than they used to be, both in good ways and bad, depending on your personal perspective. However, there’s a lot to learn from the past which can be utilized today in how we work as a team.

Teams are communities

Teams are communities. Sure, they’re different, often smaller, but sometimes larger. But at their core, a team is a community. So, what are the fundamental foundations of a team and a community? Leadership, communication, mutual respect, diversity, trust, collaboration, commitment, shared goals, and celebrating success.

Historically, many activities were done as a group. Hunting, cooking, building, crafts, textiles, and much more were all done as a collective. Experienced people led inexperienced, and a sense of togetherness through mutual respect was created while knowledge was passed down through generations.

At The Greenwoode Village, we use historically significant activities to reignite the experience of community and teamwork. People work together to achieve a common goal while establishing bonds, improving communication skills, and working as a team to complete an objective.
